College of Pharmacy & Nutrition SPEECHCRAFT TEAM!
Looking for Toastmasters clubs in Saskatchewan to volunteer for the U of S speechcraft!
Limited Spots! ONLINE PROGRAM! Deadline: December 19th, 2020
This year, due to the pandemic, the University has decided to move all instruction online and the speechcraft will also be online. Because of the pandemic, several clubs in Saskatoon that traditionally volunteered cannot dedicate the same number of Toastmasters as they did in previous years.
The University has agreed to allow clubs from all over Saskatchewan to volunteer for the event. I request interested clubs in Saskatchewan to contact me to volunteer and help mentor the students in the college of Pharmacy and Nutrition. Unlike in previous year, this year any club wishing to participate can do so by volunteering 2-3 Toastmasters per group.
How will this work:
Each group will have 5-6 students and 2-3 Toastmasters to mentor them.
The speechcraft will be conducted online in five sessions. The first session will be on January 16th (Saturday) followed by four subsequent Mondays/Tuesdays.
If your club decides to mentor a group of students, the Toastmasters will have to conduct Table Topics® sessions and evaluate student speeches during these five sessions.
The session will be 1.5-2 hours and you will get to listen and evaluate 5 speeches.
What are the benefits of participating at the speechcraft?
The University will pay $50 CDN for each student mentored for all sessions. So, if your club mentors one group for the entire speechcraft, the University will pay $250-300 CDN to your club and send you a certificate of appreciation.
The Toastmaster who leads all five sessions will meet the “Facilitate a speechcraft/youth program” requirement for their DTM.
These students are incredibly smart, and it is very rewarding to watch them grow from being good communicators to great communicators.
