Meetup has advised us of changes to how you will communicate with people on Meetup.com. The changes are highlighted in the copy of the memorandum we received below.

Hello District 99 Support Team,

We hope this email finds you well.

We’re reaching out to inform you about important upcoming changes to Meetup’s communication features.

Regular and reliable interactions with your members are crucial for building your community. Currently, Meetup has five distinct communication features, many of which address the same needs. Going forward, we intend to streamline our existing offering to reduce overlap and focus on a smaller number of the most effective tools to support all your day-to-day community interactions.

With the following changes, we hope to help you communicate more efficiently with members while investing less time in doing so.

  • Message boards & event chat will no longer be available after July 18, 2024. We encourage you to save any important conversations or historical information you may have saved there. Please visit this Support article for additional information.
  • We’re making group discussions and event comments more powerful. At the same time, we’ll be introducing compatible capabilities to the remaining communication features. We look forward to sharing more details with you soon!

Thank you for being a valued member of our community.

Best regards,

The Meetup team
