District 99 Toastmasters is pleased to announce the selection of Robert D. Steadward as the 2026 recipient of the District 99 Communication and Leadership Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to leadership, advocacy, and communication excellence.
Dr. Steadward is internationally respected for his pioneering work in adaptive sport and his role in advancing opportunities for athletes with disabilities. As the founder of the Steadward Centre for Personal & Physical Achievement and a key figure in the development of the Paralympic movement in Canada, his leadership will have a lasting global impact.
Throughout his career, Dr. Steadward has demonstrated the very principles championed by Toastmasters—clear communication, visionary leadership, and a commitment to empowering others. His ability to inspire individuals and communities has transformed the lives of many and elevated the importance of inclusivity in sport far beyond stadium walls.
His legacy directly embodies the Toastmasters mission: “We empower individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.”
The Communication and Leadership award will be presented to Dr. Steadward at the District 99 Annual Conference, C&L Luncheon on Saturday, May 2, 2026 held at the Delta Edmonton South Hotel.
