At the 2024 Toastmasters International Convention, District 99 was recognized with the District Program Quality Award. This distinction reflects our members’ commitment to creating high-quality club experiences and achieving excellence together.
This honour is significant because it marks only the second time in our District’s history that we have received this award. It is a testament to the dedication of our clubs, members, and leaders in making Toastmasters a place where growth and development thrive.
What the Award Means
The Program Quality Award is presented to Districts whose Program Quality Directors (PQDs) demonstrate outstanding leadership in supporting and promoting excellence. This includes helping clubs achieve their Distinguished Club Program (DCP) goals, ensuring officer training, and providing the resources clubs need to deliver the best possible member experience.
In practical terms, this recognition means our District not only met but exceeded Toastmasters International’s high standards for educational achievement, membership strength, and club success.
A Milestone Year for District 99
Last program year, under the leadership of PQD Von Eric Tandoc, District 99 reached new heights. Our goal was 34 Distinguished Clubs—and our members achieved 35 Distinguished Clubs or higher. This was no small feat, and it highlights the collective effort of our clubs to create strong, supportive environments for every member.
For Tandoc personally, it was an especially proud moment, having served as PQD that year; “This recognition would not have been possible without the dedication of our club officers, members, and leaders who leaned into the challenge and embraced the opportunity to grow,” he says.
And that wasn’t the only highlight—District 99 also earned an award for membership payments for the first time in our history, another reflection of the health and vitality of our clubs.
Why This Matters
Awards like these are not about plaques or ribbons. They are about people—our members who gain confidence, find their voice, and achieve their personal and professional goals through Toastmasters. When our clubs succeed, our members succeed, and when our members succeed, our communities are strengthened.
District 99’s achievements are a testament to what can happen when we come together with purpose and passion. Let’s celebrate this milestone and use it as fuel for the year ahead, as we continue to empower one another, one speech, one meeting, and one club at a time.
